setting forth musical excellence for more than half a decade, rotterdam-based imprint mindtrick records is unleashing a complementary direction through their newly established sub-label mind dubs. the prime focus of its sonic output being centered around the characteristics of dub and jungle – and both globally evolving styles. especially but not exclusively residing in up-tempo territory, label owner and highly talented producer atiq launches the discography with three releases of his own, being served with an excellent selection of mc’s. starting the journey properly, he’s releasing its debut with highly skilled vocalist daddy freddy, renowned for his fluency and skillful display of rapid expressions

since weve released the album by atiq & enk fear of the unknown last year on 2x12inch we have been playing with the idea to do something special with the music.

atiq & enks >fear of the unknown< manages to hold the listeners attention throughout with a steady and cohesive tapestry of expansive beatwork, contorted melodies, and enveloping atmospheres that all seem effortless and natural to these talented new dutch sound designers.

basmala is the debut album by the american world music and ambient soul production basmala, released in 2016 on preservation electronic recordings. the album maintains a hip-hop base and ambient or minimal atmospheric sound, which is the unique signature of basmala.

the new compilation for mindtrick records contains 16 original tracks by mindtrick veterans such as delete, tangent, known rebel, evs and head honcho atiq. and there are some newcomers who have also lined up an ep for the label that will be released somewhere after the compilation. amongst these artists are eusebeia, the indian aeon waves and a modular synthesis ep by sb-six.
there are also some tracks from well known artists like funckarma with a remix by legiac , we have bong-ra returning to the label under his new darkjazz guise the thing with five eyes and the travel aka deformer from which we released his debut album nyctophobia earlier this year.

in 2009 we released the first compilation on mindtrick records as our 4th release. 4 years and 18 releases later we are proud to present you the next instalment of the frequencies of the mind series! this album sums up what are all about here at mindtrick records and also shows different parts of old and new mindtrick collaborators.
